Paul Finch writes as The Croydon Poet. His work is rooted in storytelling, transforming everyday moments, memories and imagination into poems that are now being developed into story-driven songs.

Paul's journey as a poet began with a single love poem written for his wife, Tara, entitled If I Had A Star. Unable to afford a traditional anniversary gift, he gave her something far more personal—words. That simple gesture became the beginning of a lifelong passion for storytelling through poetry.

Over the years, personal experiences, moments of joy and loss, and events that have shaped the wider world have all found their way into his writing. Alongside these more reflective works sit poems filled with humour and nostalgia, giving the catalogue warmth, balance and humanity.

Rather than writing to fit a genre, Paul begins with a story. Every poem starts with an idea, a character or a moment that deserves to be remembered. Some become heartfelt ballads. Others become cinematic tales. But every song begins with the written word.

His hope is simple: that one day these stories will find new voices and continue their journey through the artists who choose to sing them.
